    • Upgrade to the latest version of analytics.js
      • Replaces legacy ga.js
      • More precise tracking
      • Faster load time
      • Adds Custom Dimensions and Metrics (formally custom variables)

  • Adds additional support for events (placing holds, read online, etc)
  • Does not affect current reporting (Minute 01:30;11)
    • All the dimensions and metrics in GA remain the same

    • Can track popular works regardless of format (grouped works)
  • Can track popular format types

  • Added ability to set library level GA tracking ID (UA-XXXXX) (Minute 11:13;23)
    • If GA tracking ID is set at Library level, data will be sent to both accounts
    • Available in the library system configuration settings

  • Digital Archive Tracking (Minute 17:57;04)

  • Sierra API Extract (Minute 18:54;29)
    • Records with 100s of items attached are able to be created by the extract
      • Confirmed with a record with 1,050 items
      • Must disable the extract method where Sierra itself generates MARC records. Those records still have a limit of around 500 items
      • Note: the classic process using a full export file also needs to be disabled. (Sierra’s export has a limit on the number of items that can be in a single record also)
    • Sierra Extract and Overdrive Extract moved to separate cycles so that updates get indexed sooner

  • Show Notes example

  • Show Notes example

  • The Reindex Log is the third component of the cycle used for monitoring.

  • Updates from Sierra will appear in search results in a more reliably short time-frame.
  • Formerly cycle was Sierra Extract, then Overdrive Extract, and then Reindex of updates from both
  • Now there are two cycles, Sierra Extract then Reindex; and in parallel Overdrive Extract then Reindex
  • Only one reindexing process runs at time. The cycles take turns to run reindexing
  • When the last extract time is manually set, the extract process will not update the last extract time itself
  • Order record handling modified for near-real time processing
    • Now that newly cataloged items will appear in search results on the day it is cataloged, the previous handling of keeping the matching order record in search results is not needed. (Both the order record and item record would appear in the search results.)
    • The storing of order record information by Pika modified so that the reindexing can use recent information while the extract process is building updated information
    • Force Re-extract button only shown for records from Sierra
      • Note: force re-extract button is only shown when a user is logged in and has a Staff Ptype (known by Pika) or a Pika role.

  • OPAC Admin Improvement (Minute 27:00;01)
    • System Variable Admin displays timestamp values with a human readable date-time

  • Addition to Marmot Bib Format Determination (Minute 31:17;20)
    • WonderBooks

Bug Fixes

  • Structured linked data (Minute 12:48;21)
    • Fixed errors resulting from Removed/Withdrawn items
    • Default values when @type is null
  • Improved handling of diacritics by record grouping. Individual records are consistently written in UTF-8 encoding
  • Marc Splitter utility used to send exports onto EDS correctly save MARC files in UTF-8 encoding  (Minute 29:21;29)
  • Fix for missing method in OverDrive code causing internal server errors
