Pika Release Notes 2019.11

New Functionality

• Sierra API Patron Interaction Integration (Minute 00:24;01)
  • Actions going through the API rather than screen scraping of a classic OPAC (Minute 00:41;15)
    • My Profile 
      • Contact information
      • Username
      • III SMS opt-in
      • Change My PIN
    • Holds (Minute 1:58;26) 
      • MyHolds page
      • Freeze, Thaw, and Cancel Hold
      • Change pick-up location

• Reading History (Minute 3:57;28)
  • Initial loading of reading history now uses the API
  • There isn’t a way to opt patron in or out of recording reading history so these actions must still go through the classic OPAC
  • Delete actions only remove entries in Pika, not in Sierra.  (Only the opt-out would remove reading history data from the ILS)
• Self Registration (Minute 7:59;19)
  • Because screen scraping used classic OPAC templates we now need to recreate some functionality in Pika
  • New admin fields have already been set up in test

• PIN Updates (Minute 9:30;24)
  • Email Reset PIN

• Update PIN

• New Functionality
  • INN-Reach covers on My Holds and My CheckOuts (Minute 11:22;16)

• Only INN-Reach holds with status code &, INN-Reach Requested, display  the cancel button
  • This is the only status that is actually cancel-able
• Request Reset PIN goes through Pika
• Reading History shows original checkout date (new history only) (Minute 12;27;04)
• Displaying the ‘no preference’ option for notification preferences when patrons are allowed to set that option
• Patron Self Registration admin settings
  • Patron Type
  • Agency Code
  • Barcode length
  • Days until expires
• Sierra Booking functionality is not in the Sierra API so this still goes through the classic OPAC (Minute 13:28;15)
  • Only Marmot uses (Fort Lewis)
  • The Sierra/OPAC scope is also required
• Sidebar links now order non categorized items with categories. (Minute 13:59;20)

Bug Fixes (Minute 15:05;28)

• Fix for fatal error (blank screen) when loading cover.

Sideloads

• No new sideloads

Additional Work (Minute 15:21;16)

• Sierra freeze hold messaging removed
  • We’ve verified that when a hold is frozen in Sierra that once the user becomes the only person in line that the hold remains frozen. 
• Flatirons production Pika virtual server went live

• Available Facets documentation
  • Subject facet explanations added
  • Links to corresponding MARC documentation added

• Tammy is currently working to update several guides with new features and updates
