Sierra 6.0 Upgrade Complete
If anyone has any trouble, call us at the Marmot helpdesk. If you have any questions about the upgrade, contact Brandon Cole at brandon-at-marmot.org.
To communicate correctly with the upgraded Sierra server, your desktop clients must clear the jarcache the night before or the morning before you open. Below are the instructions for removing the jarcache. Here are the release notes for the new Sierra 6.0 version.
Clearing the jarcache
With Sierra upgrades, the jarcache folder will also need to be updated. The steps to clear this out can be found HERE, and if you are interested in a course about clearing the jarcache, click HERE.
Frontline circulation staff
Make sure to only bring up one Sierra session at a time the morning after an upgrade. Allow all jarfiles to download and Sierra to fully log in before starting the application on the next computer. This will ensure that the Sierra server gets overloaded by only a few requests at the opening of your library.
Catalogers or someone who runs Sierra on their own work computer or home computer
You will likely be responsible for clearing the jarcache on your computer, but check with your manager to make sure they do not already have plans to do this for you.
