Pika cited in the Library Technology Guides

DENVER (January 26, 2017) - The Library Corporation and Marmot Library Network are pleased to announce the full integration of the CARL.X ILS with the Pika discovery layer. The partnership began in support of the groundbreaking Limitless Libraries program of the Nashville Public Library (NPL) and Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) as both organizations plan to migrate to the CARL.X integrated library system in the coming months. Limitless Libraries is a cooperative program between NPL and MNPS with the goal of improving school libraries, fostering resource sharing between the two institutions, and improving student access to learning materials.

Over the years, CARL.X customers have enjoyed full API coverage, and this collaboration was no exception. The integration of CARL.X and the Pika discovery layer will help to streamline resource sharing between the two organizations by leveraging CARL API's for Data Synchronization of bibliographic and item information and Patron Authentication/Information. Mark Noble, Research & Development Manager at the Marmot Library Network elaborated, "We have enjoyed partnering with TLC on the integration with CARL.X and Pika. The CARL.X team was very responsive to our needs and made it easy to integrate. The APIs were well documented and worked as expected. We're looking forward to continuing our relationship with the CARL.X team as our customers request additional functionality from the Pika/CARL.X integration."

Pika was created to address the needs of the library community by solving several common usability pain points, providing an intuitive experience that library users have come to expect and deserve. By grouping all formats of a work together, library users can serendipitously discover titles to read next. This feature, along with the fact that the functionality works on any size device with responsive design, aligns perfectly with TLC's vision to meet the needs of a growing always on, always in touch population. Lorrie Pacheco Butler, Director of Product Strategy for the CARL product line shared, "It has been a pleasure working closely with Marmot Library Network to help deliver leading technologies and innovation to our customer base. These successful partnerships continue to strengthen our core product and strengthen our relationships within the larger library community."
