Meeting Minutes for 03/20/2018
Digital Archive Committee
March 20, 2018
1:00 - 2:00 PM
- Introducing Ashley Sneesby! Welcome New R&D Team member/ Quality Assurance & Support specialist with Marmot.
- Updates on Archive Internships Request for another internship with Digital Archive. Sean (as interim director) determined that there will be no internships this year. Group agreed that we don’t need to hear more from Sean; what works during this time for Marmot is best.
- Islandora & Pika Update
- Wikipedia adjustments – correct displays
- Uploading large objects – uploads stopping and running into max. file limits; issues with download functions are now fixed. Consider 3.0 GB maximum file size; available for all formats, materials, etc.
- Islandora –If you see a number of files created during the upload process in the new upload view, it’s because the uploader is breaking down your one huge file to upload and then will put them back together. All files will upload to 100% before being able to proceed to Ingest.
- Demo on adding large files - See video
- No updates for Metadata Standards committee because Lacy has been very sick and unable to schedule meetings (sorry everyone). In process of scheduling meeting for the coming weeks and anyone interested in encouraged to attend.

- Aspencat/DPLA (Amy) – moving along with project for interested AspenCat libraries to join Digital Archive—so far there are three libraries interested in joining that have content and others that don’t, including the town of Lyons for the 2013 flood. Attending user group meetings, talking about project, timelines, training, educating libraries on what it entails. DPLA meeting in Atlanta with Leigh, Regan: we are nearly there with our metadata in DPLA. DPLA Projects: looking to get into historic newspapers, “elastic search”, “open refine” from Google, better way to upload metadata and turns it into a spreadsheet tool to interact with metadata. Ask Amy for any questions about these tools!
