New Business & Updates

• News from the Good Marmot Folk
  • Need a new committee chair
    • The new chair will have an important role in leading the group through the migration.
• Pika configuration training session to be scheduled after MUG
  • Pika archive configuration (Ashley)
  • Committee participation/help promoting collections (need volunteer(s)

Dark Matter

• Islandora Upgrade and Migration News
  • Project kickoff meeting in October
  • Marmot staff will look at the functionality wishlist of members and ask Born Digital about them. 
• MUG 2024
  • MUG registration closes Friday September 20th. 
  • AI in the Digital Archive presentation. First half will be a presentation from Chris on his transcription software and the second half will be a showcase of content on the Digital Archive.

  • Lafayette Public Library live with digital archive in Pika

• Chair responsibilities:
  • Chair helps maintain communication within the Committee.
  • Organizing and coordinating meetings and agendas.
    • Asks for agenda items  
• Facilitates communication between Marmot and Committee members. 
• Specific to upgrade:
  • Helps coordinate testing relative to functionality in new Islandora. 
• Pika configuration training
  • How the archive interfaces/integrates with Pika
  • Targeted for libraries that do not have the archive currently turned on in Pika. 
• Sophia Phillips volunteered to help present Western’s collections during the MUG presentation.

Action Items: 

• Provide collections with talking points for Ashley’s Pika configuration training. Can email Ashley or the Committee email (digital@marmot.org) (ashley@marmot.org) with those collections/talking points. 
• Provide Brandon (brandon@marmot.org) with a wishlist for functionality for the new archive.
• We need example collections and talking points (history of the collection, etc.) for collections to highlight in our MUG Digital Archive presentation. Send an email to digital@marmot.org if you’re interested in having your collection included or if you’re interested in helping present.
