Pika Release Notes 2019.07 

New Functionality

  • Sierra API Extract
    • All Pika test site for Sierra libraries now running the API extract process
    • New Extraction table to track when bibs were last extracted and when a bib was marked as deleted

  • New force re-extraction button in staff view section for staff users
    • Login required

  • Pika Status monitor will now warn there hasn’t been Sierra extract in 30 minutes and alert after an hour.
  • Telluride “Available to Order” Status handling

  • Determination for when it should be the grouped status
  • Status displayed as another color to distinguish from the other unavailable statuses

  • Lesser requirements for custom cover art in either FTP images or by URL  
    • New keywords in the MARC tag will be respected : 'pika', 'pikaimage', 'pika_image', 'image', 'vufind_image', 'vufindimage', 'vufind' case-insensitive will now be acceptable as well.
    • No need for indicators

Bug Fixes

  • AJAX refactoring issues
    • Item API getCopyAndHoldCounts call was not returning responses
      • Specifically affecting Arlington’s mobile app
    • Browse category call was not returning responses
      • Specifically affecting Arllington’s mobile app
    • Prospector results displayed at the end of search results was not loading
    • Digital archive search options on collection pages were not working
    • EBSCO results in Combined Searches (Bento Box option) were not returning
  • Saturday indexing issues
    • A nightly backup script caused poor performance on Marmot Pika server
  • Hoopla Extract process was improperly doing a full extract of data nightly
    • Now extracts only changes since the last extract
  • Sierra self registration PIN not set error when it actually is set
    • Sacramento

Additional Work

  • New test server for Aspencat
  • New Marmot member library implementation kick off
    • Montrose Regional Library District
  • Location settings changed for all AspenCat libraries to remove individual records to include to toggle on ‘Include Library Records to Include’ option for ease of use.

  • DPLA feed documentation 
    • Updated to include information about enhancements for subject entries
    • For Members>Pika Documentation & Training>Digital Archives
  • Adding covers in Pika
    • Pika can handle URLs to fetch custom cover art, which was existing but not well known functionality
    • For Members>Pika Documentation & Training>Catalog Enrichment
