New Functionality

  • Example of a fixed display

  • More robust handling for the language-related search facets (Minute 3:47

  • 041 subfields occasionally have multiple language codes in a single subfield for multi-language titles, including sideloaded eContent sources.
  • Added handling to process each valid 3-letter code within the subfield.

                

  • Ignore 041 tags with a second indicator of 7
    • These tags are used to hold language code, not part of the ISO-639-2/B standard
  • Languages facet (Minute 6:13)
    • Only include good translations of 008
      • (in default production configurations, unrecognized language codes are translated to ‘Unknown’. A few sites translate them to ‘Other’)
    • Only include languages from 041 tags with a first indicator of 0
      • Looking at subfields a, b, d
        • 041a Language code of text/sound track or separate title
        • 041b Language code of summary or abstract
        • 041d Language code of sung or spoken text
      • Process subfields with multiple language codes within a single subfield.

    • Only include languages from 041 tags with the first indicator of 1
      • Looking at subfields b, d, j
        • 041b Language code of summary or abstract
        • 041d Language code of sung or spoken text

  • Primary Language (Minute 7:09)
    • When the 008 is missing, as an invalid code or the positioning for the code is off
      • For Sierra systems, use the Sierra Fixed Field Language code (if a translatable code.)
        • Will also use this if the code translates to ‘Unknown’

  • For all systems, if the 008 is unrecognized (and the Sierra Fixed Field Language is not present), use the first 3-letter code of the first 041 (with an indicator of 0) subfield a, if a valid code.
  • Language search Boosting (English & Spanish) (Minute 9:30)
    • Only apply for the primary language
    • With language becoming a grouping factor, It is likely that language boosting is no longer needed.
    • Improved Playaway View format determination (Minute 10:13)
    • Anywhere Playaway is looked for, Playaway View is also checked for first

  • Multiple tags are searched through

  • Open editions table for grouped physical objects (similar to work for eBooks/eAudio from March release)
    • Display text is ‘Show Options’
