Pika Release Notes 2022.03.0 

New Functionality

  • User List filtering by search facets (Minute 20:04)
    • User lists of only catalog entries will show all the search facets enabled by the library

  • User lists of only archive entries will show all the archive search facets enabled by the library    

    

  • User lists with a mixture of catalog and archive will not show search facets

  • Browse Category improvements (Minute 23:07)
    • Browse categories based on a catalog search will now have all the sort options available for catalog searches (MUG 2019 Winner)

  • Browse categories based on a catalog search will now enforce search scoping so that results that are not part of your library’s or location’s scope are not displayed in the browse category
  • Browse categories based on a public user list will now sort by the sorting option set in the default sort (found in the edit list form) (sorting user list based browse categories by title was MUG 2019 winner)

  • Library and Location Admin pages Browse Categories section that displays which categories show in that library’s or location’s interface will now have edit links for each browse category

  • Browse categories that serve as the parent to Browse Subcategories will now have edit links for each sub-category

  • Browse Category results will now be ordered in rows rather than columns

  • Search Improvements (Minute 29:34)
    • Format boosting factor is now scoped so this boosting factor is calculated based on only the related records of a work that are included in the library’s or location’s search scope
    • Quoted search phrases with punctuation characters were errantly returning no results (patch deployed)
    • Implemented stemming protection and overrides for words that when stemmed by the search engine cause irrelevant matching  eg. animals matching animation

  • Citations (Minute 40:19)
    • Citations updated for new standards

  • Citations for lists now include archives material

Bug Fixes

  • Search fixes (Minute 36:57)
    • Search engine was errantly removing hyphenated compound words (eg. post-traumatic) from search fields
    • Search phrases with hyphenated compound words will match against both hyphenated matches and unhyphenated matches (eg. post-traumatic will match both post-traumatic and post traumatic)
    • Search phrases with unhyphenated compound words will match against both hyphenated matches and unhyphenated matches (eg. post traumatic will match both post-traumatic and post traumatic)
  • User lists of only catalog entries will now have author as a sort option(Minute 38:15) 
  • Email List function not sending from proper address
  • DPLA data feed wasn’t being constructed due to an inaccessible archive object (patch deployed)
  • Fix Pika authentication handling for Symphony libraries (patch deployed)
  • Fix LION New Branford Library’s logo display in their Pika catalog
  • OverDrive metadata containing emojis will not prevent availability updates now

  • Refreshed Creativebug record set for all subscribing libraries (Minute 43:45)
