• Accessibility updates (Minute 00:13) 
  • Colorado HB21-1110 is the web accessibility law that takes effect on July 1, 2024.
  • This law has been expanded to be all technology that public entities use.
  • This law impacts Pika. Pika is something that the libraries provide for the public to use.
  • Last year, C.J. did the initial passthrough of Pika with an eye towards the WCAG 2.1 AA level rating compliance, which is what the state law requires.  C.J. found that Pika was already in fairly good shape. C.J. created a punchlist of items to work on to get ready for July 1, 2024. 
  • Marmot has been diligently working on completing the remaining tasks on the punch list. As we approach the end of 2023, they have developed a comprehensive project plan to ensure accessibility standards are met in accordance with the 2.1 guidelines. Marmot is on track to have this plan fully implemented before July 1st.   
  • The City of Broomfield provided Marmot with the results of their audit to assist in creating additional tickets for Pascal to flesh out.   
  • Marmot has made good progress in ensuring compliance with accessibility laws. They have sent an interim VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) report for Pika to the directors. This report outlines Pika's compliance with the AA-level rating and identifies areas that require work, where it is at a single A or not compliant.
  • Marmot will also send that template report to the Discovery email list so the Discovery Partners have the interim VPAT on record.      
  • As July 1 approaches, Marmot will prepare an updated version of the VPAT showing everything in full compliance with the deadline. 
  • As we move into the second quarter, Marmot will address theming issues. The Pika team will contact libraries regarding issues related to contrast or other theming-related items that do not comply with the standards. Please keep an eye out for these communications and respond promptly so that the Pika team can ensure that your Pika interface meets the required standards.
