- The group decided that vendors would give a 40-minute demo with 10 - 15 minutes for questions.
- The group suggested having sessions from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on both days.
- Another suggestion is to have the sessions from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- The group discussed three tracks for the public, academics, and general on both days.
- One track could be marketing or patron services; the others could be public and academic libraries.
- Members can express their interest in a vendor by either contacting that vendor or contacting Tammy, who will share your information with the vendor. If we have enough interest from many members for a particular resource, it will serve well for Marmot to have a central contract. However, Marmot staff must be clear with the vendors that they will only entertain contracts that individual libraries must sign.
- The group of volunteers has a meeting on 06/16
- The group will discuss if registration will be required to receive the Zoom meeting links.
- The group will review the Vendor Demo Days website page.
- The group will review the vendor questionnaire responses.
Blackstone Audio Renewal Guidelines Discussion [MLN1]
- The group decided that we would only replace some titles each year. We will replace titles with lower checkouts.
- Before adding titles to our list, we will search for classic titles available through the free Duke Classics titles.
- We will look for popular titles with plenty of holds and fewer copies purchased when available.
- We may buy a newer series title if it's popular and will fulfill holds even if we cannot purchase the older ones.
- Before creating the lists of available titles with checkouts, Tammy researches which titles are still available for sale.
- For children’s titles, a separate Juvenile/YA Blackstone curated list will be created and published on the Kids/Teens pages.
Action Item: Tammy will check with our OverDrive rep about SU titles not checking out before MA or OC/OU copies or if this is just for CPC copies.
Other Business
- OverDrive Data from 2022
- Adam Murray shared his presentation with the ECC that he planned to give at the Council Meeting.
- OverDrive tends to introduce models that hinder collaboration among groups. One example is the CPC model, which is not shareable within the consortium.
- Adam suggested we make mindful decisions about what the consortium wants to do with emerging purchasing trends.
- Here is the recording.
- OverDrive Documentation
- We discussed the need for OverDrive documentation on the Knowledge Base. The group agreed that the information on the Marmot Website should move to the Knowledge Base.
- The group was interested in tips & tricks on purchasing or a cheat sheet for newer folks.
Action Item: Tammy will move all the OverDrive links and documentation from the Marmot Website to the Knowledge Base.
Action Item: Tammy will work on information to help newer members with OverDrive purchasing.
