Discussion Topics
- Continue Marcive Discussion
- Details added to Knowledge Base
- https://marmot-support.atlassian.net/l/cp/rJqdXKUr
- Detailed information about what Marcive is doing to our records has been added to the Knowledge Base page.
- Most of these settings have not changed since each service was initiated.
- If you are concerned about what Marcive is doing you should check through the information on the KB, and we can probably make changes to what they are doing.
- KB page also has details on the field protection for when Marcive records are loaded.
- On MLN2 the withdrawn code will prevent bibs from going to Marcive, suppressed will not.
- Tony from boulder says that they use suppression for a variety of temporary situations that don't mean they should not go to authority control
- MLN2 people agree that only "w" code should be excluded from authority control
- On MLN2 delete code prevents bibs from getting authority control, while suppression does not. So both work the same way.
- Longmont points out that they add many contributors to manga books that are not in the authority file yet. Will that cause a problem.
- No. The records will come back with a note that Marcive could not find that person, but when they are added to the national authority file in the future, we will get that updated field then.
- When we get that updated field, will that change the relationship designator field?
- No, Marcive does not change our relationship designator fields.
- Draft Outline of Marmot Cataloging Training Curriculum
FOLIO Updates
- Mobius is going live with FOLIO ECS and OpenRS in May
- Metadata Management
- Quesnelia will include a mark for deletion system
- They are considering if they need to develop the ability to export full MARC from inventory record that don't have MARC backup.
- Currently, if data is stored in inventory, not MARC format, you can't export all data in MARC format. Only an abbreviated MARC format can be exported.
- Full MARC can be exported if you store in MARC in Folio.
- Workflow
- New app being developed by TAMU to schedule and automate tasks
- Actual development is starting now
- It will use CQL
- Designing for import/export of workflows
