Digital Archives - Getting Started

Representatives from public and academic libraries describe the process each is going through to develop their collections in the Marmot Digital Archive. Libraries planning on or considering participating in the archive will get a better of idea of the process and what’s required to get started. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of librarians who are currently working on actual projects to build the archive.

Hands on the Digital Archive

Did you get excited about the Digital Archive this morning?  Have content you want to contribute, but aren’t sure where to start?  In this session we will talk about the specifics of getting your content into the archive.  If you have digital content from your library, please bring it to get a head start on your collection or use some of our sample files to practice with.  If you bring your laptop we will have tables and power for you so you can work directly with the archive.

Sierra for Admin

Marmot maintains and supports all parameter tables in Sierra. However with read access to these tables you can make informed decisions about changes that would best suit your library. Brandon will discuss how each of the parameter tables function and teach you how to read them in order to make these decisions. At the end of this session you will have a greater knowledge of the inner workings of tables such as Loan Rules, Loan Rule Determiner, Hold Pickup Locations, Text of Circ, and Patron blocks.

Learn how to configure Pika to meet your library's needs.  We will work through the administration interface talking about common settings that libraries can tweak.  We will also discuss setting up browse categories and list widgets. Bring any questions you have about your current setup so we can answer them during the session as time allows.  If you bring your laptop we will have tables and power for you so you can update the configuration of your site during the session.

Data Clean Up with Regular Expressions in Create Lists

Regular expressions are a language for creating complex search queries that is supported in Sierra Create Lists. This session will look at how to use regular expressions for advanced searching. We will demonstrate with examples looking for bad data in the database.
