FOLIO Updates

• QuickMARC
  • New stuff in Ramsons, mostly for Library of Congress
  • You can customize MARC validation, but only with API.
• Linked Data SIG
  • New linked data app has been approved by the Product Council.
    • This is how FOLIO will do authority
    • Nothing has be created yet
    • There still isn't anyone doing the work
    • Approval just means it could be included if someone creates it
• Metadata Management
  • Eureka platform will replace Okapi. This means different modules could update separately.
  • Cornell wants to change the way sorting works. They can't sort items effectively, They want to manually reorder items, and save them. Then flag them to show that sort order is not default. It is a problem for serials where records often get created out of order because issues arrive out of order.

    • New way to manage permissions
    • You can compare permissions from different users
    • Can move holdings and items from one tenant to another
    • Can do bulk edit from central tenant on data tenants
    • Can do data export from central tenant
    • Centralized acquisitions, can create orders centrally that could be received locally
    • Permission sets (roles) can be shared between data tenants
    • Holdings and items live in data tenants
    • Local instances that don't go to the central tenant can be created
    • Authority records are shared, can be used by data tenants
    • OAI-PMH can harvest records from central or data tenants

  • Discussion of linking transliterated and non-latin script in records
    • The current display is very bad. It is very confusing for people who can actually read the non-latin.
