  • We can vote on how the group wants to spend the money
  • All who attended voted on purchasing shared copies with the funds
  • Alysa offered to help buy down the holds list with shared copies

Potential Vendor Products

  • Spreadsheet to Vote for the Next Demo
    • The sheet has been cleared of all the previous information.
    • Please fill in the spreadsheet with one or more of the following terms:
      • Demo
      • Pricing
      • Trial
      • NI (Not interested)
    • A column has been added to suggest other vendors.
    • Tammy will contact each vendor to get the group what is requested on the spreadsheet
    • During the meeting, it was discussed that the following vendors will be asked to join one of our meetings to give a group demo.
      • Niche Academy
      • CuriosityStream
      • ValueLine
    • Liz encouraged the academic and school libraries to fill in their information because their budget decisions will need to be made before the public libraries.
    • Adam mentioned that even as we do the fact-finding we can work with CLiC to piggyback on their master license with EBSCO for a subgroup of libraries that might be interested in pooling resources.
  • Vendor Questionnaire Response
    • As the vendors fill out the questionnaire it will be added to this spreadsheet for all to view

Other Topics

  • OverDrive Magazines in Pika
    • Ashley gave a quick update on the eMagazines in OverDrive.
    • Pascal will send out an email to OverDrive about the issues with their API.
    • eMagazine checkouts from the catalog are working, but a few pop-ups are not working properly.
    • When patrons look at their reading history and currently checked out titles for the magazines will show “title not available” in Pika.
    • The titles display correctly on the Marmot OverDrive site and the Libby and OverDrive apps.
    •  Ashley removed all the RBdigital sideloads for the magazines for the libraries that previously had a subscription.
    • Tammy gave an update to libraries that had the old RBdigital magazines that the subscription ran out on 01/31/2021, so those magazines have been removed from the RBdigital sites. In addition, she asked RBdigital support to change the message to only show that the magazines have been moved to Libby, and include a link to get the Libby app.
  • Curated OverDrive Lists for Pika Browse Categories
    • Liz and Ashley will be getting together to help highlight the curated Libby lists in Pika.
    • They will work on creating browse categories that the group can use to mimic some of the curated lists on the Marmot OverDrive site.
    • Ashley is excited to help bridge the gap between what patrons see on the OverDrive site and a library’s catalog homepage.
    • Ashley can create browse categories that are general for anyone to use that can easily be applied to your Pika sites.
      • Update since meeting: Ashley created a general OverDrive magazine browse category (you will need to browse to the carousel to see it) with great subcategories that match the lists on the magazine page on the OverDrive site. You can add it to your browse categories (text ID is marmot_overdrive_emags_master) or ask Ashley for help at pika@marmot.org.
