OverDrive Magazine Renewal

• OverDrive magazines are an all-in purchase that everyone who is part of OverDrive has to agree to purchase, or libraries will have to purchase the magazines individually. Purchasing the magazines individually will be more expensive.
• The cost of the magazines for 2022 is the same as the cost from 2021. The total cost for the magazines is $30,000. The individual library cost is based on a library’s total population divided by the number of libraries to find the percentage that each library should be paying. The percentage was multiplied by the total cost of the magazines.
• In the pricing for 2022, the cost per circ for each library was added to the spreadsheet, as well as the total checkouts for individual libraries.
• The renewal is due by or before January 29, 2022. The deadline to decide if you want to purchase the OverDrive magazines is January 25, 2022.
• If the group moves forward with the magazine purchase, Marmot will pay for the magazines and send an invoice to each library. 
• Tammy showed the group that there is a list of OverDrive magazine titles on the committee homepage. Once a title is added it does not get added again, only new titles are added to the OverDrive title report. She runs a report every month looking for new titles and adds those to the list on the ECC homepage. The “date added to site” column on the spreadsheet shows when a magazine title was added to OverDrive.
• Not all Marmot libraries are part of OverDrive so this is why they were not listed in the spreadsheet.
  • Q: Is there a checkout comparison from RBdigital to see if people are using the OverDrive magazines more?
  • A: Tammy looked at the last spreadsheet with RBdigital checkouts and the total was less for RBdigtal (30,865) compared to OverDrive (34,990).
  • Q: How often are magazines titles removed from the original list?
  • A: Tammy will look back at her notes to find any information about how often titles are removed.
  • Q: Can a magazine frequency be added to the magazine spreadsheet?
  • A: Tammy will look into adding that information the next time she runs the report. 
• Action Item: Tammy will add the libraries that are not currently part of OverDrive to the magazine spreadsheet. 
• Action Item: Tammy will contact the OverDrive rep, Abbey, to find out how often magazines are removed and send that information out in an email to the group. 
• Action Item: Tammy will look into adding the magazine frequency to the magazine title spreadsheet.
• Action Item: Tammy will contact any library that has not responded on the renewal spreadsheet about their interest in continuing with the OverDrive magazines.

OverDrive Blackstone Audio Renewal

• The price has dropped from $3000 to $2,700.
• The collection is an all-in purchase that everyone who is part of OverDrive has to agree to purchase, or libraries will have to purchase any of the titles individually.
• The group decided to move forward with the Blackstone audio purchase. Even though some libraries do not benefit as much as others, they agreed to pay for the purchase and make this contribution to the good of the consortium.
• Any titles with checkouts less than 140 will be replaced with new titles. The group decided to keep one of the classic titles with less than 140 checkouts. The Pride and Prejudice title is available for free from Duke Classics and will be removed from the list. 
• Tammy asked for volunteers to help pick new titles to replace the ones with fewer checkouts.

• OverDrive Blackstone Audio Checkout Spreadsheet.
• Action Items: 
  • Tammy will create a doodle poll for everyone interested in helping choose replacement Blackstone Audio titles. 
  • Tammy will make sure each volunteer knows where to find the titles. 
  • Once the titles are chosen, those titles will be shared with the group to either agree or disagree with the choices. 
  • Once the group agrees to the new titles, Tammy will place the order by or before January 22, 2022. 
  • Tammy will work with Jane from OverDrive to make sure the new titles get updated on the “Always Available Audio” list.
• Q: If the title comes off the list does that mean a library would have to purchase it?
• A: Yes. Any titles that are not purchased for 2022 will need to be purchased by an individual library. Reminder: Simultaneous Use (SU) titles cannot be shared with the consortium.

Other Business

• OverDrive Adult Curated Lists 
  • Haley (Bemis) agreed to work on the adult curated lists
  • Action Items: Tammy will make sure that Haley gets training and admin permissions to work on curated lists. Tammy will introduce Haley to the rest of the Marmot member curation team.
